How to set up ShadowSocks with Trust.Zone VPN

Shadowsocks is a secured SOCKS5 based protocol designed for censorship evasion. It uses strong encryption (like AES-256-GCM or Chacha20) and traffic obfuscation to bypass deep packet inspection, making it harder for firewalls to detect.

 Unlike other VPN protocols, it only routes selected traffic, resulting in lower latency and higher speeds, ideal for accessing restricted content in high-censorship regions.

Here is a guide how to connect to TrustZone VPN servers using ShadowSocks protocol.

How to Set Up ShadowSocks Using the Outline Client on Any Device

  1. Download the Outline Client. There are free versions available for Windows, Android, macOS, iOS, Linux: https://getoutline.org/ru/get-started/#step-3.

  2. Set up a connection using the details from the ShadowSocks section on the following page: https://trust.zone/setup/manual/. Choose Servers from the "Favorites" section with the airplane icon (ShadowSocks logo).

    From the Outline app on mobile devices, you can scan the QR code. For desktop versions, you can click on the Access Key link or import it.

  3. After connecting, open https://trust.zone/check to verify the connection.

How to Set Up ShadowSocks on Windows

  1. Download and install the ShadowSocks client from: https://trust.zone/downloads/Shadowsocks-4.4.1.0.zip

  2. Create a folder named ShadowSocks on drive C: and extract the contents of the archive into this folder.

  3. Run the file C:\ShadowSocks\Shadowsocks.exe

  4. An icon in the shape of an airplane will appear in the system tray. Right-click it, then select "Servers" and choose "Edit Servers"

  5. Click "Add" and fill in the "Server" section with the following values:

    Click "OK" to save the changes.

  6. Right-click the icon in the tray and select the server you just added from the "Servers" section.

  7. Right-click the icon in the tray again and choose "System Proxy" -> "Global"

  8. Open https://trust.zone/check to verify the connection.

To disconnect, right-click the icon in the tray and select "System Proxy" -> "Disabled" If you exit ShadowSocks without doing this, the internet may stop working on Windows. In that case, run ShadowSocks again and properly disconnect.

How to Set Up ShadowSocks on iOS (iPhone, iPad)

Use the Potatso app.

  1. Install Potatso: https://apps.apple.com/app/potatso/id1239860606.

  2. Launch Potatso and click "Add a Proxy"

  3. Click "Add."

  4. Go to https://trust.zone/setup#manual_setup and scroll down to the ShadowSocks section to find all the necessary connection details.

  5. Fill in the "PROXY INFO" form with the following values:

    Press "Done" to save the connection. iOS will ask for permission to add a VPN connection, click "Allow" and enter your passcode.

  6. Click the "Settings" icon at the bottom of the screen, click "Custom DNS," then "Add DNS," enter
    109.236.87.2, click "Add DNS" again, and enter 23.237.56.98

  7. Select the server you created and press the blue Play button at the bottom of the screen to connect.

  8. Open https://trust.zone/check to verify the connection.

How to Set Up ShadowSocks on Android

Use the ShadowSocks app.

  1. Install ShadowSocks: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.shadowsocks.

  2. Launch ShadowSocks and tap the "+" icon at the top, then choose "Scan QR code" (allow the app to access your camera).

  3. Go to https://trust.zone/setup#manual_setup and scroll down to the ShadowSocks section to find the QR code. If the QR code is not displayed, click "[select another server]" and choose a server with the ShadowSocks icon (paper airplane).

    Android may ask for permission to add a VPN connection; click "Allow."

  4. Select the server you created and tap the blue airplane button at the bottom of the screen to connect.

  5. Open https://trust.zone/check to verify the connection.
